This position is open at FAVORITES THAI restaurant, located at 141 Ossington Ave, Toronto, ON M6J 2Z6. The position is responsible for meal planning, direct food preparation and cooking activities. The job duties must prioritize delivering high-quality services to other employees and customers. The candidate is required to work at least 44 hours per week. The qualified candidate must be able to communicate in English language.
Major responsibilities:
Preparing raw ingredients including meat, poultry and fish
Ensuring food ingredients are stored in their designated area and rotated in the proper manner
Coordinating kitchen workflow and ensure timely meal execution
Preparing and cooking customized meals based on dietary guidelines provided by the chef or dietitian
Assisting the chefs in creating menu items, recipes and developing dishes
Planning menus and monitoring meal portions to avoid product shortages
Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
Controlling and minimizing waste, maintaining a clean and safe work area adhering to food safety and health standards
Training and supervising kitchen helpers
Other requirements:
At least
2
years of experience as line cook or similar position
High level of professionalism during peak service hours
Detail-oriented and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Enforce strict hygiene and food safety protocols at all time
Able to work long-standing shifts and perform physical tasks like lifting and pushing
Flexible to work full-time hours, including days, nights, weekends and holidays as required.
Compensation:
Salary starting at $36.50 per hour
Statutory holiday full pay, vacation pay, and year-end bonus
